[CD] Vol. IV: Independency is Plaid On Flannel’s fourth full-length album, released in 2018. The 18-song LP marked a return to Plaid On Flannel as a solo act with singer-songwriter Nolan Randall. Which occurred after releasing 2 EPs with Plaid On Flannel band members in 2016-17. Vol. IV: Independency possesses a focus on expanding the “band sound” of Plaid On Flannel. With many songs that are tailored for performing live with a band.
The 67-minute album does switch up the styles on some tracks. From the funk reggae of “Into The Night” to the indie folk of “Up and Down the Highway”. On the other hand, the signature alternative indie blues rock sound of Plaid On Flannel is evident throughout Vol. IV: Independency. Which can be heard on rockers like “Harmonic Sign” and “All Hail”.
