[CD] Get On! is Plaid On Flannel’s second EP, released in 2017. The 7-song record captures the spirit of the Plaid On Flannel band lineup from 2015-17. Showcasing a sound defined as “carnival rock”. Which ties into the quasi-concept of the album’s amusement park theme. Characterized largely by the playful use of keyboard effects.
The 29-minute extended play features songs that were previously recorded by singer-songwriter Nolan Randall. These tunes were revamped with the Plaid On Flannel band. Jen Doyon’s keyboard playing and vocal harmonies colour the music with some necessary flavour. While Les Cassling and Minas Hatzigiannatzoglou provide a foundational cohesion as the band’s rhythm section.
Songs like “Switching Gears” and “Potential” offer an up-tempo and catchy indie blues rock feel. And other tunes like “Heroes & Villains” and “What You Believe” take on a darker tone of alternative rock that can make your head bang.
